Endowment Local Fisheries

Endowment Local Fisheries for Sustainable Food Security in Underserved Villages

Rural communities in Egypt’s most underserved areas often face limited job opportunities and scarce access to diverse food sources, leaving families vulnerable to food insecurity. This program aims to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods by establishing community-based fish ponds that provide a sustainable source of protein and create decent job opportunities .

Families are engaged in raising and maintaining the fish ponds, earning a stable income while contributing to their community’s development. Part of the fish production is distributed as nutritious meals to the most vulnerable households within the same villages, ensuring that no one is left behind. Built on a self-sustaining model, the project functions as an endowment (Sadaqah Jariyah). A one-time donation that continues to give indefinitely, transforming short-term aid into lasting empowerment for entire communities.
