Fighting malnutrition among nursery and school children.
The "Building Tomorrow” program, from the Egyptian Food Bank, is addressing malnutrition among nursery and primary school students from underprivileged families. Launched in 2009, the program initially provided nutritious meals to schoolchildren in different Egyptian governorates. In 2021, it expanded to include nursery students aged 2 to 6, as well as primary school students up to 12 years old. Meals are prepared in the Egyptian Food Bank’s kitchens according to comprehensive nutritional standards and are provided to children daily. The program ensures full supervision on the food’s quality. Additionally, it offers employment opportunities for mothers by training and hiring them to prepare meals in school kitchens for a monthly salary.
